As far as I see it, it’s always nice when software can provide some sort of functionality that can make your life easier, that can help you get things done in a speedier and more convenient manner. The Ilja Herlein-developed application NetSetMan certainly fits into that category. This Windows application offered for free for non-commercial use is a network settings manager that you can use to create and switch between different profiles. You can create a profile for your home network and another for the office, for example, and easily switch between them.

The NetSetMan installation file is of only 2.8MB. Getting the installation file, which won’t take long by the way, is the first step you must take should you decide to give this application a try. The next one would be to run the installation file, follow the instructions presented by the setup wizard, and get NetSetMan installed on your Windows-powered machine.

It must be mentioned that during the installation process you will get to choose between the many languages NetSetMan supports, you will get to choose between several installation options (Standard installation, which is recommended for first time use; update, which will update an existing installation, and Extract files, where program files will be copied to a folder for portable use and no installation entries or files will be created), select if you want a desktop shortcut, and pick if you want NetSetMan to check for updates at program startup and automatically run at Windows startup.

The application’s interface displays six different tabs for the six different network profiles you could create. Each profile includes: IP address, Gateway, DNS servers, WINS servers, WiFi Management, system settings, and more. You have all the tools you need to create a network profile that you can switch to and from with ease.

From the Tools menu you can access some Windows functions: WiFi management, Internet options, control panel, and so on.

NetSetMan is free for non-commercial use. For commercial use there is the paid Pro version which lets you create an unlimited amount of profiles among other things.

With the free and user friendly application NetSetMan you can easily switch between network profiles. How could you not like an application that does away with the frustration of frequently having to change your network configuration?

Pros

Works with 32 and 64-bit Windows editions from Windows 2000 up to Windows 7. Simple, easy to use, and nicely structured interface; you can switch between full and compact mode. You can create up to 6 different network profiles and switch between them. Access various Windows functions from the Tools menu. NetSetMan is free for non-commercial purposes.

Cons

Only the paid Pro version lets you create an unlimited amount of profiles.
